About a week later, Oklahoma announced the details of the contract to bring Brent Venables back to Oklahoma as the team's head coach.

There is a lot of speculation, but thanks to reports from Jason Kersey of The Athletic and Ryan Aber of The Oklahoman, we know the details.

Venables signed a six-year contract, valid until January 31, 2028, with a starting price of $7 million per year and an increase of $100,000 in February each year.

Venables is bringing money to the first head coach. He caused a sensation as the highest paid coordinator in the sport, partly because Clemson has the ability to invest assets to make him an architect of defense, which has been a machine for most of the past 10 years.
