Gab Marcotti and Julien Laurens argued over which manager should be ranked first in the FC 100. (2:10)

ESPN announced the annual ranking of the best men's football players and coaches in the world for the sixth consecutive year! Welcome to FC 100.

As always, the ranking is broken down into the top 10 list of positions, plus the manager's countdown, in order to make the most meaningful observations of the talents on the court and on the sidelines.

Go to: Goalkeeper | Right Back | Center Back | Left Back | Midfielder | Offensive Midfielder | Winger | Forward | Forward | Manager

Reading FC 100: Spanish | Portuguese | Dutch

Last year dominated by Liverpool and Bayern Munich-these two clubs accounted for 8 out of 10 first places-this year's leaders are distributed among six teams, and no team exceeds the two-person category.

However, a common theme is that in the past 12 months, all but two of the 10 leaders have won trophies, both at the club and international levels. This is what we want voters to consider: Putting reputation aside instead of focusing on "What have you done for me lately?" Close, the best performers this year get the treatment they deserve.

There has again been a large-scale name change, with 41 new entries (47 in 2020 and 43 in 2019). At the same time, there are 28 countries, 26 clubs, plus 3 international teams.

In terms of advantageous events, the Premier League leads with 41 representatives, followed by La Liga (21), Serie A (14), Bundesliga (10) and French Ligue 1 (10).

How the list was made

During the International Game Day in October, 77 ESPN experts from all over the world—from editors to writers, TV talents and former players—choose from a list of more than 300 players and managers. In addition, if the name they want is not there, they can choose to add a written nomination.

Who did it? Who didn't? How about number one? What do these lists say about the balance of power in games? Gabriele Marcotti and Julien Laurens debate. Live now

This is not just a big shot of the "best player in the world"; the purpose is to isolate specific areas of the court so that comparisons can be made between areas with similar roles. Therefore, each voter submitted 10 individual ballots, from which we calculated the numbers, and then the selected writers and editors conducted the final review.

(Yes, we recognize that certain players in certain positions may sometimes play in other positions on the court; we call to make sure their votes are not divided into two categories!)

In addition to highlighting the high points of the year, every player and manager has shown his best form in his best form. He has served as a scout and executive commissioner in clubs such as Monaco, Zenit St. Petersburg and Watford. Tor-Kristian Karlsen also assessed the tolerance of each player.

So we have it: from goalkeeper to forward and anywhere in between-and the person in charge-this is the FC 100!

Note: As of November 30th, the player’s age is correct

In addition to stopping the shot and acting as a "scavenger," the goalkeeper is the first step in building an offense; whether it's a long, accurate pass or a diagonal pass. Agility and responsiveness are given, but confidence and foresight are essential.

High Point Written by Sam Marsden

Club/Country: Paris Saint-Germain/Costa Rica Age: 34 2020 Rank: 7

Scouting report: With incredible reflexes, jumping ability and agility, Navas has achieved successful careers in some of the largest clubs in the world. Being able to make unforgettable acrobatic saves, Navas' most lasting memory is that he stretched horizontally, held the ball with both hands, and passed the ball around the post. In a sense, he is responsive, because the more tests he takes, the better his performance, although not like the refined and comprehensive goalkeeper that people like in recent years.

The climax of 2021: Even if PSG won 4-1 at the Nou Camp, Barcelona seems likely to return to a draw in the second leg of the 16th round of the Paris Champions League. However, Navas saved from Sergino Durst's shot and Lionel Messi's penalty to ensure that this would not happen.

Club/Country: Aston Villa/Argentina Age: 29 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: Given that Martinez has only completed a full season as the first goalkeeper, and he looked average before being selected by Aston Villa, Argentina's number one player is probably late blooming. After failing to get a chance in Arsenal's eight-year career, he was not confident enough to move to Villa and did not look back. His well-known antics in the face of penalty kicks to take any possible method to delay attackers (he saved four this season) made headlines, but Martinez is a reliable and reliable shot finisher.

The climax of 2021: Martinez won his first chance to play for the Argentine national team only in June, but he quickly became a hometown hero by winning the Copa America with his golden gloves. In the semi-final penalty shoot-out victory over Colombia, he staged a hat-trick of saves and then kept a clean sheet in the final 1-0 victory over Brazil.

Club/Country: Barcelona/Germany Age: 29 2020 Rank: 4

Scouting report: Although not as impressive as previous seasons, the German international is still one of the top goalkeepers in the game. Mandatory for any Barcelona goalkeeper, Ter Stegen can always help his defenders and help move the ball well in the backcourt. Thanks to his quick reaction ability, he usually proves to have a good time when he dashes out of the defense to stop an attacker. He is also good at restarting the game with long, precise pitching.

The climax of 2021: Ter Stegen played well in the Copa del Rey semi-finals against Sevilla, saving Lucas Ocampos’ penalty as Barcelona reversed the 2-0 disadvantage in the first leg entering the finals. It laid the foundation for the only trophy that Blaugrana has won in the past two years.

Club/Country: Chelsea/Senegal Age: 29 2020 Ranking: Unranked

Scouting report: Although he was a respected goalkeeper in Ligue 1 with Reims and Rennes, Mendy performed even better after switching to the Premier League. The 6-foot-4 Senegalese international not only has enough touch ability to give him an advantage in receiving the ball, but he can also squat quickly to make a low save for both sides. His distribution is becoming more and more calm and restrained, he often starts offensive from it, and he has become a key part of Chelsea's defense.

2021 high point: Mendy nearly single-handedly won 3 points for Chelsea at Brentford in October. He made 7 amazing saves in the 1-0 game, prompting coach Thomas Tuchel to call him "absolutely decisive." Left-back Ben Chilwell said: "We want to thank [the door] Di], he is great."

Club/Country: Manchester City/Brazil Age: 28 2020 Rank: 6

Scouting report: As one of Manuel Neuer's closest opponents, Edson is the foundation of Guardiola's football brand in Manchester City in terms of the quality of his first touch and distribution. The Brazilian's left-footed shot is arguably the cleanest and most powerful of the highest level goalkeepers (he may try a direct free kick if allowed). He has been caught less and less due to inattention, and now he is a player who is fully capable of saving penalties.

2021 high point: Few goalkeepers have Edson's vision and distribution, which is very important for Guardiola's team. An example of his talent was in May, when he scored Manchester City's first 60-yard pass in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Club/Country: Liverpool/Brazil Age: 29 2020 Rank: 2

Scouting report: An offensive and brave goalkeeper. His excellent game reading ability and general alertness enable him to make a lot of interceptions. The way he defends the target is very aggressive; always on the front foot and off the line quickly. The Brazilian's feet are very capable, agile, and through his voice, positive style conveys confidence to his defenders.

2021 high point: In May, when Allison met his teammates in the West Bromwich Albion penalty zone, Liverpool's hopes for the top four in the Premier League were at stake. After a flick of the header, the goalkeeper scored an incredible winner, helping to secure a seat in the Champions League.

Club/Country: Real Madrid/Belgium Age: 29 2020 Rank: 5

Scouting report: Courtois, who is 6 feet 7 inches tall, is one of the highest elite goalkeepers, and his goals make him hard to beat. The Belgium international, who is about to enter his 100th cap, is very stable and almost never misses games or makes obvious mistakes. He is good at catching the ball. In terms of his size, his acrobatics are impressive and he has a good instinct. His footwork may not be the highest, but it is improving.

2021 high point: Perhaps Courtois had his best performance of the year in Inter Milan's 1-0 victory over Madrid in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season. His brilliant save allowed Lautaro Martinez to score a header, and Edin Dzeko's two shots, Real Madrid sneaked a three-pointer.

Club/country: Bayern Munich/Germany Age: 35 2020 ranking: 1

Scouting report: The original "scavenger goalkeeper" is still the best in the game in terms of footwork. Few other goalkeepers can handle the ball under their feet with ease. Whether it is a short pass or a mid pass at the correct speed and angle, the precise positioning of a long diagonal, or even the movement behind it, Neuer can do it. When his team has the ball, he pushes up like other goalkeepers, and his reaction ability and game reading skills are still the highest.

The climax of 2021: Neuer is a modern goalkeeper because his ability to handle the ball is as important as his ability to shoot and stop the ball. Therefore, it is not shocking to see him create a Champions League goal for Robert Lewandowski with a 60-yard pass against Benfica in November.

Club/country: Paris Saint-Germain (transfer from AC Milan in July)/Italy Age: 22 2020 ranking: 8

Scouting report: In addition to the size and presence of the dominant area, the Italian international is also very technically excellent. Although initially recognized for his keen reactions on the line, his time and ability to execute close sprint opponents are now his hallmarks. In the past few seasons, Donnarumma's distribution has also been steadily improved, so that he has enough confidence to be used by defenders to get rid of pressure, and he is also able to pass safely.

The climax of 2021: The 6-foot-5 goalkeeper used every inch of his body to become Italy's free throw king in the 2020 European Cup. He rescued from Alvaro Morata to help secure his place in the final, and then prevented further penalties from Sancho and Bucayo Saka in the penalty shoot-out against England.

Club/Country: Atletico Madrid/Slovenia Age: 28 2020 Rank: 3

Scouting report: Contrary to the trend of "cleaning the goalkeeper", the Slovenia international is all the bread and butter of the goalkeeper: preventing goals. In addition to his distribution under pressure, Oblak is a complete first: strong hands and extraordinary agility. His posture is very good (including when rushing out), and his concentration and reaction ability are very keen, and he can even reshape his body to prevent later deflection. World-class goalkeeper, well-deserved first place.

The high point of 2021: A save from Lionel Messi's fingertips at the Nou Camp in May may be the most critical stop Oblak made this year. This ensured that the game ended without the ball. Atletico won a point for Atletico at the end of the season and severely damped Barcelona's hopes of winning La Liga.

Jan Oblak said that after being named the world's best goalkeeper in ESPN FC 100, it has always been his dream to become a goalkeeper.

Perhaps once the worst technical outfield player, right backs are now often converted wingers. They bring boldness and unpredictability. Location awareness, precise traversal and high speed separate the best from the others.

High Point Written by Alex Kirkland

Club/country: Bayern Munich/France Age: 25 2020 ranking: 3

Scouting report: Contrary to modern full-backs, Pavard (as a retrained central defender) does not have the lightning speed or natural impulse to break through many top players of his generation. On the other hand, the France international is a very smart football player. His running time is well arranged and he can see danger early. As a wide defender, he performed well in the air, has strong stealing ability, and is calm and calm with the ball. A very useful team player, he has been making steady progress.

The climax of 2021: Paval won the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich and was a member of the French National League championship team. Injuries and suspensions have affected him recently, but his belief still exists; as he himself said: "Great coaches put me in the right-back position because they are confident in my abilities."

Club/Country: Chelsea/Spain Age: 32 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: Aspilicueta has made more than 300 appearances in the Premier League under his name. His versatility, diligence and stability have always been Chelsea's incredible servants. Whether it is formation or position, the Spain international tends to make subtle changes, mainly arriving as a full-back, but finds himself also being used as a center forward. His ability to read and predict matches allows him to win most duels, he rarely encounters trouble and handles his tasks in a professional manner. Also a respected leader.

The climax of 2021: As the Chelsea captain to win the Champions League trophy is the pinnacle of a stable contender's career, his club status also allows Aspilicueta to return to the Spanish team well-deserved after three years of absence; he is in Laro Kazakhstan played a key role in reaching the semi-finals of the 2020 European Cup.

Club/Country: Inter Milan (transfer from Eindhoven in August)/Netherlands Age: 25 Ranking in 2020: Not ranked

Scouting report: The Dutch full-back won the applause with an impressive performance at the 2020 European Cup this summer, scoring two goals in the process. After transferring to Inter Milan from Eindhoven for €12.5 million in the summer, he still has not gained the status of a regular player. He is an eager and enthusiastic wide player who supports the attack with a ruthless forward run. Dumfries has made a lot of crosses, but the accuracy rate is not high.

2021 high point: Dumfries scored in consecutive matches against Ukraine and Austria in the 2020 European Cup-his header winner in the previous game provided the final decisive turning point for this five-goal thriller ——These performances helped his image soar and won him a chance to transfer to Inter Milan.

Club/Country: Atletico Madrid/England Age: 31 2020 Rank: 9

Scouting report: Reliable right back, balanced offense and defense. In addition to being an excellent passer and fixed setter, Trippier is also very active in passing and always hopes to improve after his first touch. He played well in one of the best defensive units in European football for Atletico Madrid.

The climax of 2021: The first trophy of his career, when Atletico Madrid won the La Liga title, proved that the decision to leave England's comfort zone in 2019 and move to Spain to test his decision was correct. Trippier started 28 league games in the 2020-21 season, and his stability is an important factor in the success of Diego Simeone's team.

Club/Country: Seville/Spain Age: 36 2020 Rank: 6

Scouting report: Navas, who has played more than 400 times in the leagues between Sevilla and Manchester City-permanently converted from a winger to a right-back two years ago-covers the right wing with his expertise. He occupies a favorable position, allows himself to move forward, and continuously provides high-quality crosses into the penalty area (nearly five times per game). Although he is approaching his 36th birthday soon, his performance is still very stable.

2021 high point: Navas already has a place in Seville history: the club’s record holder, no player has lifted more trophies. He led them to fourth place in La Liga with 77 points-another all-time high-and is part of the ongoing campaign to win the title.

Club/Country: Manchester City/England Age: 31 2020 Rank: 5

Scouting report: The England defender has been trading at a sprint-like speed as an orthodox right-back, and has developed into a flexible, tactical and versatile defender under Guardiola. Although he was not particularly productive in the constructive aspects of the game when crossing the center line (his crosses rarely lead to goals or opportunities in the area), he is undoubtedly one of the best one-on-one defenders around.

The climax of 2021: After regaining his place, Walker played a key role in Manchester City's win in the Premier League and started the game in each knockout stage leading to the Champions League final. His best performance came in the semifinals against Paris Saint-Germain, helping Kylian Mbappé and Neymar to remain silent.

Club/Country: Chelsea/England Age: 21 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: James is already a solid, strong and athletic defender. Since Thomas Tuchel became the Chelsea coach, he has improved more and more. The England international likes to make timely attacks behind or on the shoulders of opposing defenders, and has recently demonstrated impressive shooting ability with his feet. The game is full of contagion.

The climax of 2021: In Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal in August, James’ all-round quality made him an indispensable symbol for the club and the national team: he played for Romelu Lukaku In the first game, and then scored his own goal, he has been playing his role in another outstanding defensive performance of the European Championship.

Club/Country: Manchester City/Portugal Age: 27 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: The Portugal international is full of energy, determination and confidence. He is always keen to get the ball and participate in the organization stage. He passes the ball very well with his feet and often looks for infield options instead of just moving the ball along a wide area. He has powerful shots with both feet and is willing to try his luck from the most impossible distance. A constant, relentless threat, even though his enthusiasm would make him vulnerable to a dead end. Cancelo has won an impressive percentage of defensive challenges (60%) and has strong air power among full-backs.

The climax of 2021: In January's opening 20 minutes against West Brom, Cancelo almost single-handedly won the title for Manchester City with 3 points. He set up Ilkay Gundogan and then scored the second by himself. He can play on either side; no wonder his teammate Phil Foden calls him the best offensive full-back in the world.

Club/Country: Liverpool/England Age: 23 2020 Rank: 1

Scouting report: An atypical full-back, his main advantage lies in his technical aspects of the game. Although he often joins the offense by overlapping or breaking through the wing, he is also good at controlling the ball from a deeper position and accurately positioning the forward pass (2.7 key passes per game this year is quite amazing for the right back) or hitting the diagonal line early. . Alexander Arnold is also one of the best crossers in the Premier League. Not yet considered an expert defender, but did recover a fair amount of balls in the opposing half.

The high point of 2021: His performance against Atletico Madrid in November was a masterpiece. Both Liverpool's goals came from Alexander Arnold's precise right-footed pass into the penalty area, and Arnold dominated the game in a way that few full-backs can do.

Club/country: Paris Saint-Germain (transfer from Inter Milan in July)/Morocco Age: 23 2020 ranking: 2

Scouting report: Hakimi proved the perfect full-back on the right side of Antonio Conte's Serie A champion Inter. Just like the Dortmund team before, the Morocco international-who can also play on the left-is an uncontrollable existence, with his powerful running and winger-style dribbling skills constantly posing an offensive threat. After a transfer fee of 60 million euros this summer, he scored 7 extraordinary league goals for Inter Milan and started his Ligue 1 career in an impressive manner.

The climax of 2021: As a key member of the Inter Milan team began this year, Hakimi won the club’s first Serie A championship in 11 years. He had the greatest impact on Paris Saint-Germain’s high-profile summer arrival, the most fascinating What is notable is that he scored two goals-including the 95th minute winner-and won 2-1 at Metz in September.

Gab Marcotti and Julien Laurens are arguing about who should get the FC 100's first right back position.

To be a top defender requires more than size, confidence and strength. Many of the best people have cultivated possessiveness; others have embodied serious power. The great man combines timing and power with elegance and composure under pressure.

High Points by Andrew Cesare Richardson

Club/Country: Liverpool/Netherlands Age: 30 2020 Rank: 1

Scouting report: A central defender, leading verbally, leading by example, leading by example. In a duel almost no one can rival-whether in the air or on the ground-the Liverpool defender is also very clever in his position, usually one step ahead of his opponent. His ability to pass the ball diagonally is as good as you will find. Moreover, with his excellent header skills, he is also a natural target for set-pieces.

2021 high point: The biggest sign of Van Dijk's importance is Liverpool's struggle to qualify for the Champions League during his absence due to injury. Since the return of their defensive leader, Jurgen Klopp’s team has improved and can challenge the Premier League title and cruise around Europe.

Club/country: Juventus/Italy Age: 34 2020 ranking: 4

Scouting report: Not as domineering as it was a few years ago, but Bonucci is still one of the most complete guards of his generation. The Juventus man brings a wealth of experience and leadership skills, and he will adjust his game according to his defensive partner, whether it is Chiellini or Matisse De Ligt. Despite losing some mobility and sprint speed as he grows older, Bonucci is still able to use his tactical awareness and absolute strength to get the ball first. His long passes are usually of a high standard.

2021 high point: During Italy’s unforgettable European Cup victory in 2020, Bonucci was also a frequent striker as a defender and scored the equalizer in the final against England Goal because he scored from close range after having the fastest reaction against England. Chance.

Club/Country: Chelsea/Brazil Age: 37 2020 Rank: 3

Scouting report: The former AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain defender provides the focus of Chelsea's three-back midfielder and remains one of the sharpest defenders in world football. His success rate in air and ground challenges remains above 70%, and he is still an expert organizer of defensive lines and set kicks. The Brazilian veteran has always maintained 100% focus during the game, and he has world-class expertise in movement, action and defense.

2021 high point: Silva created a defensive master class that allowed Real Madrid's Karim Benzema to stand out in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final. The France international-one of the leaders of this year's Ballon d'Or-barely played, and Silva's header clearance was particularly impressive.

Club/Country: Naples/Senegal Age: 30 2020 Rank: 4

Scouting report: Although he has been in charge of Naples' defense for many years, the Senegal international has not yet received proper recognition outside of Italy. From a visual point of view, Coulibaly can appear so casual and imposing, he makes defense look easy. When he made up his mind to take back the ball, he was actually just going to catch the ball. The tall and elegant central defender plays in such an authoritative manner and looks very attractive (although he may be too indifferent at times.)

The high point of 2021: He likes the final winner against Juventus, and his goals helped Naples reversal and win in September. The 2020-21 season is not a classic season, but Coulibaly is crucial to Naples' incredible start to the season, which allowed them to advance all the way in Serie A.

Club/country: Real Madrid (transfer from Bayern Munich in July)/Austria Age: 29 Ranking in 2020: 3

Scouting report: Alaba’s goal against Barcelona’s new club Real Madrid in October in the National Derby summed him up as a player: after an initial interception in defense, he rushed to the court to shoot with a clean left foot The move is completed. In other words, the Austrian international has the intuition of a defender, the vertical running ability of a midfielder and the finishing ability of a forward (not to mention the leadership and determination that any player wants.) The highest level in 30 years. Whether in the rear defense core, the left wing or the midfield organizer, Alaba can perform his duties with outstanding quality and wisdom.

The climax of 2021: What better way to become the hero of Real Madrid fans than scoring in the national derby debut against Barcelona? Alaba's outstanding performance is another sign that he settled in Spain as a free agent after leaving Bayern Munich.

Club/Country: Chelsea/Germany Age: 28 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: From the brilliant but occasional mistakes we saw in Stuttgart and Roma when he was young, the German international has established himself as a reliable and proactive central defender-whether in Chelsea's third defender is still the German center back to the left. As a reliable passer, Rudiger is still an outstanding defender in the game: he is very strong and stands out in his impressive 75% of defensive duels.

The climax of 2021: under the leadership of Frank Lampard, Rudiger's transformation under the leadership of Thomas Tuchel is outstanding. His improvement was reflected in the 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in September, where he scored Chelsea's third goal with an outstanding performance.

Club/country: Manchester United (transferred from Real Madrid in August)/France Age: 28 Ranking in 2020: 6

Scouting report: Although the French international's performance in Real Madrid or Manchester United was not the best year, it is difficult to find obvious shortcomings in his game. He can be said to be one of the fastest central defenders in the game. He is very good in the air and the ball, and can be effective from behind. Varane has the ideal physique of a central defender-tall, athletic, but flexible in short distances-and has developed the ability to make decisive interceptions in the penalty area.

The climax of 2021: He left the comfortable life in Madrid, challenged himself in England, and started with a winning assist on his debut, but it can be said that Varane’s most memorable moment was before the season opener of Manchester United against Leeds United ; His performance on the court made Old Trafford crazy and helped him win 5-1.

Club/country: Juventus/Italy Age: 37 2020 ranking: not ranked

Scouting report: Although he often played left-back and even full-back in his early years, in his later years, the Italian veteran was known for his hard work and determined defense. In Chiellini's view, no challenge will be lost (he won nearly three-quarters of the defensive challenge), and he hopes to defend by blocking, tackling or throwing himself in front of the ball at all costs. It is a dying art. One of the most difficult opponents a forward can face, both physically and verbally; Chiellini will be by your side all night.

The climax of 2021: The captain and leader of Italy captured one of the iconic images of the 2020 European Cup when England substitute Bukayo Saka threatened to leave in the late finals. This move shows Chiellini's ruthlessness and wisdom, and why he is still a nightmare for the attacker.

Club/Country: Paris Saint-Germain/Brazil Age: 27 2020 Rank: 10

Scouting report: Also good at defensive midfield, Maquinhos' main strength is his control of the ball and understanding of the game. He tends to direct the game from the rear and pass the ball into the midfield to start offense. Although the Brazilian usually prefers to deal with danger through early interceptions, he is also capable of defeating opponents in competitive duels. He brings structure and leadership to the defense.

The climax of 2021: The defender scored a goal in Brazil's America's Cup opener against Venezuela as part of a powerful performance of the 3-0 victory. Selecao coach Tite wants the offense to start from the back, and Marquinhos is the core of it, and he has also developed into one of the leaders of the team.

Club/Country: Manchester City/Portugal Age: 24 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: Diaz went from a promising central defender in the Portuguese league to the backbone of the Premier League championship team, which is almost unprecedented. His steady, calm style is similar to that of an experienced defender in his prime (usually between 28-32 years old). He can read games well for interception and is the voice commander of his teammates. He is also fast in long-distance passes, is good at handling the ball-his mid-to-long passes are of particularly high quality-and dominates the air.

The climax of 2021: Dias is the first defender to win the English Football Writers Player of the Year award since Steve Nicol in 1989. It turns out that Dias is Vincent Kong Valuable replacement for Pani (Vincent Kompany). An unforgettable moment came in the victory over Manchester United, when he started sliding tackles before Scott McTominay got the ball, but still won the game cleanly.

Leading left backs lock a winger as comfortable as they become ball handlers. Some people are not even left-footed, but positional awareness and technology allow them to drift in the infield to a central defender or midfielder.

The high point written by Elaine Teng

Club/Country: Manchester United/England Age: 26 2020 Ranking: Unranked

Scouting report: After spending several seasons in the wilderness, Shaw has worked hard to return and become a key player for England and Manchester United. A strong and determined defender often tries to close opponents and win the ball as soon as possible. Tall, compact, and outstanding in the air, Shaw is keen to join the offense by running sharply, making himself available by overlapping or finding space in the penalty area. His recent performance has declined along with the other players in the Manchester United team, but he is the star of the 2020 European Cup.

The climax of 2021: In 65 minutes, Xiao was the hero of the 2020 European Cup final, and his goal in the second minute shocked Italy. The England team eventually lost in the penalty shootout, but their left-back got some solace in the end of a wonderful individual tournament.

Club/Country: Real Madrid/France Age: 26 2020 Rank: 10

Scouting report: If it weren't for injuries, the French international may have become Marcelo's long-term successor, but he is working hard to continue his Bernabeu career. When in good health, Mendy has all the attributes considered to be a complete full-back. His passing is safe and restrained, and at the same time he supports his offensive teammates in a continuous overlapping manner.

The climax of 2021: Mendy's state was exciting during the club's entry into the Champions League semi-finals at the beginning of the year. Atalanta's key victory was his best moment, and he lost to Real Madrid when he was injured last season. April also made him miss the 2020 European Cup.

Club/Country: Atlanta/Germany Age: 27 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: Another high-scoring full-back, Gossens is certainly not just a classic wide player. When the offense is on the other side, he is agile enough to position himself well for rebounds or crosses, and his opportunism sees him effectively run past his marks, looking for points at the guard position. Although Gossen's off-ball running is impressive, he is still a very determined football player, and many of his goals are based on the pure will to get the ball in the first place.

2021 high point: Gosens is the highlight of Germany's disappointing Euro 2020. Served as a full-back in the 4-2 defeat of Portugal. This was one of the best matches in the championship. He scored one goal, scored another goal, and acted very satisfied against opponents, and his predatory nature There was no response from running.

Club/Country: Chelsea/Spain Age: 30 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: A smart full-back, his sharp forward running often opens up several offensive options. Due to his good game reading ability, Alonso is good at interception and is very useful in aerial challenges. Whether as a classic left-back or full-back, the Spain international can usually deal with defensive situations calmly, even under pressure. He can also take a wonderful free kick.

The climax of 2021: Alonso fell out with Frank Lampard and seems to be leaving Chelsea, but he has been a key link in Thomas Tuchel's carefully tuned machine. Alonso is known for his offensive ability. He proved that he can defend in the August draw with Liverpool. Chelsea had 10 players in the second half.

Club/Country: Dortmund/Portugal Age: 27 2020 Rank: 3

Scouting report: As one of the most productive full-backs in European football, Guerrero scored an impressive 32 goals and the same number of assists during his time in Dortmund (168 games). In the organization stage, he can almost always be used on the left side, and his feet are good enough to allow himself to participate in the narrow central area. With his untiring relentless attacking style and endurance, Guerrero is very suitable for Dortmund's high-energy football.

Club/Country: Barcelona/Netherlands Age: 24 2020 Rank: 8

Club/Country: Chelsea/France Age: 30 2020 Rank: 5

Scouting report: A rare defensive midfielder, with both mobility and high work efficiency, as well as simple and efficient passing and first-class dribbling ability (especially transitional play). Club/Country: West Ham United/Czech Republic Age: 26 2020 Ranking: Unranked

Scouting report: A somewhat unorthodox midfielder. His physique and skills are exactly the same as those of a defensive midfielder, but his impulse to break through and the knack for getting into the goal position are more suitable for "No. 8." Either way, the Czech international is very good at air passing, and his excellent game reading ability is very valuable to West Ham United. His endurance is indeed very good. Club/Country: Sampdoria/Denmark Age: 21 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: The Danish international performed well in the 2020 European Cup and performed well in Serie A. This summer, his preference for long-range goals became obvious, and his strong ball-holding ability—especially his performance in counterattacks when the court is open in front—is also very technical. Damsgaard is skilled, good at one-on-one, and also works hard for the team; no wonder he will be monitored by a series of elite European clubs.

The climax of 2021: Going all out in his country’s memorable Euro 2020 semi-final, Darmsgaard scored an extraordinary free kick in the nearly 30-yard game against England. In the match against Russia, he made a wonderful effort to provide the Danes with a platform to advance to the knockout round.

Club/Country: Lyon/Brazil Age: 24 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: Judging from a deeper role than he played in AC Milan, the Brazilian looks like a brand new player in Lyon. Although still able to participate in the final third of the precise pass, he can also receive the ball from the central defender, often starting offensive moves. In addition to his talent and creativity, Paqueta also made changes for his team, and often won the ball in the midfield.

The climax of 2021: He left a deep impression on Lyon, but his best moment came in the Copa America semi-finals, when he scored the goal that led Brazil to victory over Peru. After Peru's Pedro Galese made a series of outstanding saves, Paqueta finally found a way out, stroking Neymar's cross.

Club/Country: Manchester City/Portugal Age: 27 2020 Rank: 7

Scouting report: Despite being highly respected, the Portuguese scripted season has reached a new level. When he doesn't have the right to hold the ball, he will relentlessly press for the ball and pick up the loose ball in front of the opponent. His unremitting efforts can be proved by the large number of short sprints he performs in each game. Silva seems to have improved in technique and tactics, adding variety and creativity to his passing game. He is increasingly becoming an important player for Manchester City and he has played in many different positions this season.

2021 high point: It may only be against Burnley, but Silva performed so well in the October victory that Guardiola has to say that he has reached his debut in the 2018-19 season" Otherworldly" level. The city manager added: "[Silva] is very intuitive; he always gives us the extra balls we need."

Club/Country: Chelsea/England Age: 22 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: In the past year, Mount has become an almost indispensable player for the club and the national team. With his ability to establish effective exchanges and combinations, as well as against opponents (even long-distance finishes), this midfielder is in the most dangerous state when he advances with the ball in the last third. Without the ball, he is very diligent in tight games and always hopes to quickly regain possession of the ball.

2021 high point: Prior to Norwich's October visit to Chelsea, Mount had no goals or assists in the 2021-22 season. After 90 minutes, he got the ball for the game and completed the first hat-trick of his career, which included a brilliant breakthrough from the edge of the penalty area. He also registered an assist.

Club/country: Manchester United/France Age: 28 2020 ranking: 8

Scouting report: Over the years, the French international has flashed past, proving that he has all the physical, technical and tactical qualifications to be the best midfielder in the world. Whether as a "8", as an auxiliary forward, or even as a ball-handling midfielder, Pogba's dribbling ability, passing, athletic ability and strength are enough to have a devastating effect. Maybe a transfer to another club will help define him a clearer role than he is now at Old Trafford.

The high point of 2021: The 4 assists in the Manchester United victory over Z United are a remarkable feat, but Pogba's best performance this year was in the 2020 European Cup France against Germany. Pogba ran the rest of the game from midfield.

Club/Country: Manchester City/England Age: 21 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: Foden, who is nearing the end, is very lively and always hopes that the ball will kick to his feet or be chased behind the defense. When he doesn't own it, he will work hard to regain it. With a cute left foot, high football intelligence and the ability to operate efficiently between the two lines, it is no surprise that the Englishman is under the leadership of Guardiola and his coaching staff.

2021 high point: Foden's year can end in two games against Liverpool. In the 4-1 victory over Anfield in February, as a "fake 9", he scored one goal and assisted another. Eight months later, in the same game, he scored a wonderful goal again, and finally tied for the best player of the game with a 2-2 tie.

Club/country: Bayern Munich/Germany Age: 32 2020 ranking: 2

Scouting report: Mainly because he found a way to catch the ball in the last third or he always switched rebounds in the right position, sometimes people forget how good Mueller is in the air and how hard he is defensively team. Although he almost never does anything fancy, most of his participation is clear, accurate and purposeful. He is also an excellent communicator and a good role off the court.

The climax of 2021: Perhaps Mueller's greatest moment is his memories in Germany. After being ignored by Joachim Low (Joachim Low) for three years, Mueller’s club form allowed him to return to the game against Denmark on June 2nd-927 days have passed since his last national team game- —And he is still indispensable under Hansi Flick.

Club/Country: Manchester United/Portugal Age: 27 2020 Rank: 3

Scouting report: The Portugal international made a huge impact two years ago, scoring immediately and providing a lot of assists. He scored 28 goals in 58 games in all competitions last season, although Fernandez has recently found it difficult to reproduce this state. At his best, the former Portuguese sports star is an energetic midfielder. He is often the dynamo of the last third of the team and always wants to catch the ball or rush into the penalty area. He can score from almost anywhere and is good at providing assists with beautiful impromptu passes or early crosses.

2021 high point: For Manchester United, this is a difficult season, but Fernandez offers some bright spots: Cristiano Ronaldo's Champions League assists against young players and Atlanta, and a hat-trick against Leeds United. The opening weekend of the league.

Club/Country: Manchester City/Belgium Age: 30 2020 Rank: 1

The 30-year-old Manchester City star is a skilled organizer. He is very practical and direct in implementing his ideas, and it is almost impossible for his opponents to keep up. The Belgium international is very effective in finding space between his feet, and is very skilled in observing running, passing the ball almost perfectly.

The high point of 2021: De Bruyne started the year at his peak: in the January game against Chelsea with a "fake No. 9" outstanding performance, he summoned the pass of the season a month later, with Helped Ruben Dias against West Ham United and then scored a very special left-footed goal against Monchengladbach in March.

Maybe they no longer follow the "chalk on boots" motto, but the speed of the wingers and the persistence of the wings provide their team with another angle of attack, while the ability to cut in and shoot in the field adds another dimension.

Club/Country: Paris Saint-Germain/Argentina Age: 33 2020 Rank: 5

Scouting report: Although the big stars keep arriving in Paris, the Argentine veteran keeps getting playing time. His excellent left foot, dangerous crosses, quick body feints and clever running without the ball are well known. Di Maria is a good player. He left behind the bad 2014-15 season at Manchester United and now guarantees excellence and hard work.

The climax of 2021: A stunning drop in the Copa America final allowed Argentina to defeat host Brazil, ending years of poor performance and disappointment. Di Maria remained calm for 22 minutes, won the first important trophy since 1993, and ensured that he would always have a place in the national folklore.

Club/country: Manchester City/Algeria Age: 30 2020 ranking: not ranked

Scouting report: One of the best left-footed bosses in the game. He has weak feet and is quite good. The former Leicester star prefers to catch the ball on the right, then push to the center, often using curls to score. Although the Algeria international is an excellent tandem player and has a good record as a substitute, Manchester City has rarely used the Algeria international this season.

The climax of 2021: Mahrez was a key link for Manchester City to win the Premier League title, but he did appear in the Champions League. After scoring goals in the quarter-finals and semi-finals away games against Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain respectively, he double-killed in the second round against the French club and locked the position of the first final in Manchester City history. .

Club/Country: Real Sociedad/Spain Age: 24 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: It is only a matter of time before the Spanish international is selected by one of Europe's top clubs, another winger who looks set to make a real breakthrough. As a diligent wing player, Oya Sabal can serve as a traditional winger on the left or cut into the infield from the right. The Real Sociedad captain has difficulty stealing the ball and is an efficient finisher when moving to the center (he even scores from strange headers). He is also a free kick expert.

The high point of 2021: He helped Spain enter the 2020 European Cup semi-finals, scored goals in the Olympic men's and UEFA finals, and advanced with Real Sociedad in La Liga, but Ojazbar’s outstanding moment is The penalty kick ended the All Basque Copa del Rey and finally won Real Madrid's first Grand Slam trophy since 1987.

Club/country: Manchester City (transfer from Aston Villa in August)/England Age: 26 2020 ranking: 10 (attack midfielder)

Scouting report: Glarish has not reached the peak of his Aston Villa in the few days after he moved to Manchester City for £100 million this summer. Compared to a natural winger, Greelish is more like an organizer who was eliminated on the wing. He has outstanding ball handling ability and a natural instinct when playing. By being able to defeat opponents with fast, creative footwork or clever dichotomy, it is easy to understand why the England international is highly praised by Manchester City coach Guardiola for his ability to create a quantitative advantage in key attacking areas. He may need more time to adapt to the actions of his new teammates, but his talent is obvious.

The climax of 2021: Glalish played in the last pre-Euro 2020 friendly match between England and Romania at the beginning of the summer, then established his fan favorite during the game and then moved to Manchester City.

Club/Country: Naples/Italy Age: 30 2020 Ranking: Unranked

Scouting report: For many years, Insigne has been one of the best players in Serie A, but he has not received the honor he deserves abroad (probably because of the uneven Champions League record in Naples). An agile, skilled winger-when he is allowed to transfer the ball to his right foot is the most dangerous-he is very creative and did not let his short height (5 feet 4 inches) stop him.

The climax of 2021: In the quarter-finals of the 2020 European Cup, Insigne scored a wonderful goal that helped Italy achieve dominance in the first half. From the Belgian halftime, he ran forward, then cut into Youri Tielemans (Youri Tielemans) into the open space, and curled up in front of Thibaut Courtois with an amazing effort.

Club/Country: Real Madrid/Brazil Age: 21 2020 Rank: 10

Scouting report: In recent months, the Brazilian has gone from a source of frustration to one of Real Madrid's key players. Although his running, high-speed running, and ability to take over opponents have always been praised, his finishing ability has not reached the same high standard...until now. The confident Vinicius Jr. brought more final products to the Spanish giants this season and improved his decision-making, and is well integrated with Karim Benzema.

The high point of 2021: Re-emerged under the leadership of Ancelotti, the importance of Vinicius has never been as obvious as it was in Valencia in September. With four minutes left, Real Madrid trailed 1-0, but their Brazilian star first equalized the score, then Benzema made an amazing cross and finally took the lead.

Club/Country: Bayern Munich/Germany Age: 26 2020 Rank: 3

Scouting report: As one of the unsung heroes of the talented Bayern Munich team, Gnabry is versatile enough to play on either side, occasionally crossing the center, or sometimes alternating between three positions to be on the defensive line Create destruction. The German international is difficult to stop in a one-on-one situation. He helps on the defensive end and communicates well with his full-backs.

2021 high point: In October, Bayern Munich faced a potentially difficult test in the game against Bundesliga leader Leverkusen, but the home team was surprised by the brilliant five goals in the first half. Two nets in two minutes to seal the victory in a near-perfect performance.

Club/Country: Manchester City/England Age: 26 2020 Rank: 2

Scouting report: Sterling is still one of the best forwards in the world. When dribbling the ball to defenders, Sterling's running style is deceptive and he can cleverly get out of crowded areas. He likes to catch the ball behind the opposing back line, and his early moves on the wing are usually a smart way for City to establish possession of the ball high on the pitch. His scoring record is also good. Since his debut for Liverpool in the 2011-12 season, he has scored close to 100 goals in the Premier League.

2021 high point: Sterling can be said to be the main player of the England team in the 2020 European Cup. In addition to countless attacks, he also scored three goals. Nothing emphasizes this role more than scoring his country's first goal in the game, defeating Croatia 1-0.

Club/country: Juventus/Italy Age: 24 2020 ranking: not ranked

Scouting report: In recent months, Chiesa's position in Juventus and Italy has improved. From often sacrificing halfway through the second half, the winger is now increasingly seen as a difference maker and an important game player. As one of Italy's most effective counter strikers, his dribbling progress is very fast and he can decide the game with a precise left foot.

The high point of 2021: Chiesa can be said to be Juventus's first choice, but he really stands out in Italy. After starting Euro 2020 on the bench, he scored from the bench against Austria and then made himself an automatic starter. He performed well in the semifinals against Spain and was one of the goals of this tournament.

Club/country: Liverpool/Senegal Age: 29 2020 Rank: 1

He is an excellent finisher, able to switch opportunities from most angles or positions, he has almost gymnastic balance and can control his body.

High point in 2021: Mane scored Liverpool's 100th goal against Crystal Palace in September. He also set a record for 9 consecutive Premier League goals against the same opponent. A month later, Mane played against Watford, becoming the third African to score in triple figures in the Premier League.

Club/Country: Villarreal/Spain Age: 29 2020 Ranking: Unranked

Scouting report: Although Moreno may not be super fast or have particularly gorgeous skills, the Spanish international is a smart forward who is good at choosing the right space and is difficult to be deprived or knocked down due to his upper body strength. . Most of his goals are scored after a few touches, because he likes to float into the space on the right side of the penalty area and place the ball with his left foot in the far corner. He scored 23 league goals for Villarreal last season.

The climax of 2021: Moreno received worldwide attention this year. He scored 7 goals in Villarreal’s UEFA Champions League game, one of which was in the final against Manchester United, when he touched Dani Parejo’s free kick over the big Wei De Gea helped Villarreal win the first trophy.

Club/country: Ajax Amsterdam/Serbia Age: 33 2020 Rank: Unranked

Scouting report: One of the European elite players who have the greatest impact on the team: Serbian midfield organizers are very important in the impressive Ajax machine. Normally, things happen when Tadic is hovering in the middle of the court looking for the ball. In 2021, he averaged 4 key passes per game (although it is undeniable that the infamous Dutch League provides a wealth of statistics for offensive players), and created an equally powerful 2.8 opportunities per game. He is also an excellent passer.

2021 high point: For Ajax, there is nothing better than defeating Dutch giants, rivals and title contenders Eindhoven 5-0, and this is exactly what the Amsterdam club did in October , Tadic stood out. He created the first two goals, and then he scored the fifth on his own.

Club/country: Chelsea/Germany Age: 22 2020 ranking: 6 (offensive midfielder)

Scouting report: Havertz worked hard to meet expectations after moving from Leverkusen to Chelsea in 2020 for 79.4 million euros, but he scored the winning goal in the Champions League final against Manchester City and won the favor of fans. Despite his slow progress, the German organizer still showed enough brilliance to show that the final breakthrough is just around the corner. As a very smart, versatile and skilled football player, he is at his best when he finds space in front of the opponent's defense to catch the ball.

The climax of 2021: No matter what Haverts continues to achieve, it will be difficult to beat the 21-year-old Champions League final.
