American tennis star Serena Williams will retire after her US Open campaign. The 41-year-old has had a long journey as one of the best tennis players of all time. Williams is the second-highest Grand Slam title holder (23). If she wins the US Open, the former world number 1 will tie with Margaret Court for the most number of Major titles.

Similarly, American baseball player Albert Pujols is left with the final month of his last regular season. Notably, he also is just six home runs short of reaching 700. As the two athletes close in on their retirement, a shocking coincidence happened on the day Serena won her first match at the US Open 2022.

Notably, all three of them play for the Toronto Blue Jays. Exactly 21 years ago, on 29th August 2001, it was exactly the same result.

However, the 40-year-old gave a pleasant surprise to her fans with a resounding straight-set victory. With this, the former world number 1 has made a statement that she is not finished yet.
