Breathing Exerciser

The Respiratory exerciser is used to carry out independent and controlled respiratory exercises for bedridden patients. Superficial and therefore inadequate respiration results in insufficient ventilation of the deeper- lying areas of the lungs. Secretions (in particular mucous) can accumulate in the lower regions of the lungs, making the lung tissue susceptible to infection.

This product is suitable for the patient who has a decline in lung function due to chest lung disease, surgery, anesthesia and mechanical ventilation, do the recovery training of the lung respiratory function.

How to use?

1. Hold the unit in an upright position.

2. EXHALE-normally and then place your lips tightly around the mouthpiece at the end of the green tubing.

3. LOW FLOW RATE-Inhale at a rate to raise only the ball in the first chamber.The second chamber ball must remain in place.This position should be held foe three seconds od as long as possible whichever comes first.

4.HIGH FLOW RATE- Inhale at a rate to raise the first and second chamber balls.Ensure that the third     chamber ball remains in the rest position for the duration of this exercise.

5. EXHALE-Take out the mouthpiece and exhale normally RELAX (Repeat)-Following each prolonged deep breath,take a moment to rest and breathe normally.This exercise can be repeated according to physician's instructions.

How to calculate?

Calculate your inspirate volume,multiply your inspiratory time(in second)by the inspiratory folw setting(in cc/second).

For example
If you inspire a slow,deep breath at a folw setting of 200cc/second for 5seconds:
inspiratory time "flow setting= inspiratory volume 5sec" 200cc/sec=1000cc or 1liter

Avoid Fatigue and Hyperventilation

 

Allow time between inspiratory maneuvers.One SMI repeated with a break of at least one minutes between efforts will reduce fatigue and the risk of hyperventilation.
Follow your clinician's instruction carefully.
As your condition improves,you may rotate the flow selector to a larger number to achieve greater volumes.
