New leisure centre with ski machines in North Devon-InTheSnow

The new £15 million leisure centre currently under construction at Barnstaple in North Devon will be equipped with indoor conveyor skis.

Work on the new Taka Recreation Center began before the pandemic began. It is funded by North Devon County Council, England Sports and Coastal Community Fund.

The conveyor ramp will be Alpine Engineering's top-of-the-line SkiMachine, a company headquartered in the Netherlands that has supplied hundreds of machines around the world.

Tarka Recreation Center will open in March. There will also be a 25m eight-lane movable floor competition swimming pool, a 20m four-lane movable floor learning swimming pool, a gymnasium with four badminton courts, a large gym, and two multi-functions. swimming pool. Purpose practice room, rotating studio with virtual experience, indoor soft games and outdoor play area and coffee shop.

North Devon County Council leader and councillor David Warden said: "This major investment will create outstanding new facilities for the town and surrounding communities, and there is a real sense of anticipation."
